Halloween Portraits on the Village Green
"Perhaps, if one wishes to remain an individual in the midst ot the teeming multitudes, one must make oneself grotesque." Salman Rushdie, Midnight's ChildrenI spend some of my time in a small town in upstate NY. Not much happens here, which is great. Halloween night is different however, and people really go all out. I set up a location studio in the center of town and photograph the ghouls and goblins. It's not the West Village parade, it is a small town after all, but there's something beautiful about the costumes, the expressions, and the universal desire to be acknowledged.
